Hi mom I hope all the christmas stuff is going good. Sunday  we were able to have the baptism of junior.  It was a little crazy though on Saturday we were supposed to go by and confirm all the details of the baptism, but when we went they still hadn´t gotten back from work so we weren´t able to meet with them.  Then Sunday  morning it appears like junior and yolanda got into a little fight and she didn´t go to church and she needed to attended to be baptized. So we talked with junior for a while during the church about everything that was going on and we told him that we could postpone the baptism so we could figure everything out with yolanda but he wanted to get baptized.  so we had the baptism after church and I baptized junior and the bishops wife went and picked up yolanda and brought her to the church so she could she the baptism.  after the baptism junior gave his testimony and it was super good.  so we will have to see what happens with yolanda and her baptism, it probably won´

Week #70 December 6, 2017

hey mom I´m glad you liked the surprise! we were explaining the light the world thing (ilumina el mundo) to some members and they sent the pictures to help us do that days activity.  I did get my debt card and it works I also got the christmas package this past week so that one got here a lot faster.  Junior is doing really well. Like usual we have been teaching is wife a lot and junior is ready to be baptized, he just wants to wait for his wife. We are trying to have the baptism the 16th if we can. Yolanda started working yesterday though so hopefully we can still teach her just as much but she is doing very well overall, her and junior are awesome. No we aren´t found Marco.  The is a really cool church video called the great apostasy (i think ) but it is the conversion story of Wilfred Woodroof and he shows how he was baptized in other churches before being baptized in the restored church. it is very good to show to Haitians because to them being baptized for a second time

hey mom I´m glad you love my hair so much :)  No president gwilliam hasn´t seen it yet but I have interviews with him this next week so I will get to hear his opinion :)  I could definitely cook the turkey next year. Juniors family did get to chile. His wife´s name is yolanda and he has a 5 year old son named junior david. Junior also stopped working so we have been able to teach them a lot. They got to chile on thursday and we taught them friday, Saturday, they went to church sunday and we taught them  monday  and  Tuesday  of this week. Yolanda brought elder moore a creole bible so he's pretty happy.  The package got here this past week thanks for everything. an idea for the christmas package you could send me some spicy all purspose spice to use for food and cooking, now that I am such a great cook.  this past week a member in our ward from venezuela who has been deaf from over 13 years got hearing aids so he is hearing more now but he is still adjusting to the change

Hey whats up. So first highlight of the week.  Thursday  did divisions with Elder Franco and that night he buzzed my head. I hope you like the pictures;) It was pretty fun doing it though it just looks a little weird.  Another cool thing, today I cooked a turkey (pictures included as well). We bought a frozen turkey and today for p-day we went to some other missionaries house in our district and cooked the turkey and ate french toast and made root beer floats with coke instead of rootbeer.   the package still hasn't´t gotten here but I will let you know when it does.  with my new hair the chileans think I look ugly but all the haitians think I look so much better.  Some of the thinks that I am grateful for right now Clean streets grass  clean air  air conditioning  snow  America  book of mormon the bible dictionary dish washer water hambergers(American food) my mom ;) Thanks for everything,I love you Love Elder Austin

Hi hows it going. Losing Marco means that we haven´t talked or seen him in like 3 weeks he doesn't´t answer his phone or his house. Junior is doing good still his family will be getting here in a little more than a week. No he doesn't´t really have a good job but no haitian really has a good job. But at least he saved up enough money to pay for the plane tickets. Elder Rodruiguez has like 19 months in the mission and we live in a house. We had to rearrange everything so we could fit in bed in. We don´t know how long the trio will last. This week we got a kind of mini missionary. His name is Elian and he is from the ward. He can´t sleep in the house with us but in the morning he comes and studies with us and eats lunch with us and then goes out with one of us during the day so we can split up and have two companionships. I went out with him yesterday. he is 20 and last year he started his mission papers and then kind of went inactive, but now he is a little more active and he wa

Week #66 November 8, 2017

My comp is good he just has the 5th and last of his rabies shots. I have had my pant leg bit several times but they haven't  really got me yet. I don`t know how I feel about the winter. Usually I prefer the summer but I love the snow of winter but Chile's summer here is brutal, it gets really hot and the sun just kills you and you can`t do anything about it. Junior is still doing very good, we sent a reference to the dominican repuplic so the missionaries could start teaching his wife but they never arrived, but she will be in chile in a short time and we will teach her here. Juniors biggest fear right now is that she won`t accept the gospel when she gets here.  We have no seen Marco lately he has disappeared so hopefully we find him again. We do teach a lot of Haitians. Yesterday we completed two weeks with out teaching a lesson to a chilean. The good thing too is that the haitians we have been finding recently speak better than average haitian spanish.  This past

Week #65 November 1, 2017

This week I have been really been happy because of Junior. I told you last week that we watched the full hour long restoration video with him and during the lessons this week he has told us he loved it!  With the video he really put everything together and understands it all.  The Authority use to be one of his biggest problems but now it is one of his favorite principles. He has been thinking about the video a lot and pretty much quotes parts of it back to us. Yesterday we were teaching him and Daniel his nephew about the sacrement and Daniel had a question about the restoration and Junior pretty much taught him the Restoration and then showed a video he had downloaded of the first vision and showed it to us and told us he has been sending it to everyone. Right after we finished watching the video we could still hear the music of the video coming from another one of the Haitians room in the house.  Juniors wife and son get to chile the  23rd of november  and Junior wants to wait f

Hi mom this past week was really good week. Last Wednesday the ward did an activity and we watched one of the those super old movie/slide show things where you watch the slide with the audio and then it beeps and you change the slide. We watched that and it was actually really cool.  On Saturday we taught Yolette the Haitian that is a member.  We haven´t really been able to teach her before during the week she travels to some rich persons house and takes care of the house and then comes but Saturday and has to leave again Sunday  afternoon.  But this Saturday night we were able to teach her and we watched the full length Joseph smith restoration video.  Junior and emmanuel also came with her along with two other Haitians and we all watched the video and I loved it.  I hadn't´t realized of good of a movie it was but it was really powerful in the way it conveyed the restoration .  On Sunday  we had 7 investigators in church!  All haitian. It is a really interesting situation becaus

Hi mom,  I actually talked to the bishop from el bosque a couple weeks ago and he told me that gabriel is doing very well, it looks like he is now the young mens leader in the ward (not a lot of youth but its still good). I also got his email too and I am going to email him soon.  Other than that I haven´t heard anything about anyone else.  Today we went to the temple for pday as a district. It was very cool and we went and ate lunch at carls jr after.  Marco is doing well as well. We have a baptism date for him the  11 of november . This past week we did a thing where some people that were in the ccm came to our sector and where with us for a couple hours. I was with some one from ecuador named elder Padilla who has just been a member for a year and a half.  I have being putting emphasis in reading the book of mormon. I have also realized how is it would be for us to forget if we don´t make time to reed. I had one day the past week when we were on divisions so I was with s

Week #62 October 11, 2017

hi mom sounds like you guys had a fun and interesting week last week with state tennis and homecoming.  This past week we had 4 investigators. Junior and emmanuel went as well as this Haitian couple that attended before. We have only had one lesson with them but they have now attended church twice and gone to a ward activity. It is kind of complicated teaching them because they speak almost no spanish and don´t really speak french either.  We only speak english and spanish and they only speak creole.  They also can´t read very well and they book of mormon doesn't´t have an audio in creole.  But we are working out a solution for that, already have an audio of the entire restoration pamphlet in creole recorded by emmanuel.  And we will probably try and get him to keep recording so he can go over the material and we can teach this couple. There names are Josue and Artus.  Another really cool thing that happened this week was Junior asked if it would be better to wait to get baptized w

Week # 61 October 4, 2017

I´ll start off talking about general conference because I image that would be one of your questions. I really liked the talk by Russel M Nelson about the book of mormon. I also found that the book of mormon was on of the biggest themes of this year, even though it is probably a theme every year because its kind of important.  Russell M Nelson´s was probably my favorite about the book of mormon but there were several and everyone one seemed to at least mention it. They also emphasized reading every single day. It called my attention that elder eyring said he had read the book of mormon every day for the past 50 years.  I did watch the whole conference in spanish. Spanish just feels so natural now I can´t really think back to what it was like before when I couldn´t understand it.  Marco is doing very well, he couldn´t come to general conference for some reason but there was a ward activity friday night and he went to that and brought his brother. He has a baptism date for  octo

Week #60 September 27, 2017

Hey mom thank you for the package I got it this past week and it was perfect especially the creole book because I had just been talking with my comp about learning some creole and now we have something to help us out.   There are several reasons that I have why the Haitians are so receptive. One is that they are a very religious people and have left their country and their churches with that and now when they arrive here they need a new church to go to. another reason is that they don´t speak spanish fluently so they are a little less confident and don´t reject us right away like that the Chileans that speak spanish. When ever you say hi to a Haitian you can tell that they pause for a second like they aren´t sure if you are going to talk to them. There is a very large number of Haitians here and for most of them the mormon church is something new compared to the Chileans who pretty much every person here has talked to the missionaries at least several times in their lives.  I don´t t

Week #59 September 20, 2017

hey mom this past week on the 18th was the chilean independence day, so that pretty much means we have just been teaching Haitians this past week because the Chileans have been occupied drinking.  On Sunday  junior and Emmanuel both attended church and while we were in church a Haitian couple randomly showed up to church and we had no idea who they were. But the had just seen the church and decided to go, we had our first lesson with them and they don´t speak spanish very well so we will have to work out a way to teach them.  This past week we also found another Haitian investigator named Frantz. It was just like 9:30  at night and we saw a little game of soccer between some Haitians and some Chileans and we had to see that so we sad down over there by another Haitian friend that was watching and starting talking to him. And a little while later the Haitians that were playing got distracted and came over to talk to us. turns out that one of them spoke pretty good english and we talke

Hey mom whats up. I am starting to feel older too. Especially because a huge new group of missionaries just got to the mission which was pretty much my group last year.  The only difference is is that I am a year older that these youngins.  That conference sounds pretty cool. One of the chapters in preach my gospel is all about the attributes of christ.  This past week we had a really good noche de hogar with Rodolfo with a family in the ward. And this past Saturday the ward had its party for the chilean independence day even though it doesn't´t actually happen until the 18th. Rodolfo even started helping some of the young adults in the ward prepare for the activity but en the end he wasn't able to go for some family problems. The ward activity lasted all day Saturday but we only stopped by to eat lunch there.  This Monday was 11th day September another day when we can´t leave the house.  Sunday  before it got dark we had to enter to the house. And then M onday  morn

Week #57 September 6, 2017

hey mom happy birthday to the greatest mom in the world. I already sent that one letter but I will try to start working on another package/letter to send you and also to write something to megan so she won`t be upset. And don`t worry I will write the next letter with my left hand as my to give you more prove.  Lately I have been practicing a little more with my right hand because that deteriorated a little because I was writing with my left for so long.  I think I am still slightly faster with my right hand but if I step it up and practice a little more I could get it even. Right now I eat 4-5 eggs in the morning for breakfast. You will also be proud to know that I started eat oatmeal lately.    Last Sunday we had stake conference and we got to go with Marcos (he has a car too so we lucked out) but the conference was very good. We have a another appointment with him tomorrow.    Tomorrow we also have a zone conference and elder bragg from the area presidency is co

Week #56 August 30, 2018

Hi! Yeah Rodolfo is chileno and really knows the church and the ward but just hasn´t felt confident enough about it to get baptized. But he is super cool and is progressing so something could happen. We did fast with him this sunday. With the haitians things are pretty good. Right now they just do not understand the need to be baptized with the right authority because they have all already been baptized.  This week something really cool did happen. on Saturday we had just walked out of the chapel and a guy drove by and stopped his car and called us over, he told us he had moved to santiago just a little while ago and had know the church and little bit in his old city and wants to be baptized. We set up an appointment with him and told him about church that  sunday .  He never came to church and we thought a little bit that it might be to good to be true, but we went to our appointment with him  monday  and had a dope lesson with him. His name is marcos and he is 25.  It
