Week #12 October 26, 2016

This week I start my second change with Elder Kau at El Bosque so I will have at least another 6 weeks with him.  This past Sunday I spoke in church about faith and it definitely was a miracle I was able to speak for 20 minutes after preparing my talk that morning.  This week we started teaching someone named grabriel.  He is a really cool guy and the boyfriend of the oldest daughter of familia perez.  Familia perez is the only normal family we have in our ward.  Our first lesson went really well but there is also a lot of pressure too.  A lot of pressure on him to get baptized from familia perez and a lot of pressure on us to teach well. Today for p-day we went to corbatas and got 50cm completos (picture below). Love Elder Austin (Below is part of the letter Nathan sent me answering some of my questions.) Hola! Thank you again for the package but I haven´t got it yet but I won´t be able to find out again until our next district meeting next Tuesday .   Yes we do ha

Week #11 October 19, 2016

This past week we had a great week. We were able to find a lot of people through door contacts and that was great. And right now we have a lot of future investigators from our contacting. This weekend we had a lot of rain and that was great but the bad thing was that it discouraged a lot of people from coming to church. A few more details about our chicken killing last week. We killed the roaster with hermano Jamie is our best friend here and also our ward mission leader. We went to the his house and killed the chicken and we hung it up by its feet and started plucking it. We thought the chicken was dead but as we were plucking it it came back to life and started flapping everywhere. So we had to kill the chicken again and make sure it was really dead. We thought we were doing this with a experienced capable guy but it turns out hermano Jamie is just a crazy old man. I love being in Chile and the people. Love Elder Austin

Week #10 The Chicken, October 12, 2016

This past week we had a great week.  Mostly because today for our p-day activity we got to kill, prepare and eat a chicken.  Everything else has been great as well.  Each day my Spanish gets a little better but I still don´t understand a lot and make a lot of mistakes but I love learning Spanish.  Chile lost to Ecuador last week (in soccer) and now they might not make it to the world cup.  That would be terrible because every since I got my call I have been ready to support them.   Last Sunday was stake conference and we listened to a lot of talks.  If I really concentrate I can understand most of what´s going on in the talk but it takes a lot of effort so eventually I end up zoning out.  My tastes have already changed a lot too because I now like tomatoes, mayo, avocados on everything with Coke to drink just like the chilenos.  I love being here and it is a interesting and amazing place.  Thank you all for your emails. Elder Austin So the only pictures and videos Na

Week #9 Conference Weekend, October 5, 2016

This week we had the great opportunity to listen to conference. I got to listen in conference English since I was still in my training and conference weekend is like a holiday for all the missionaries.  It was great after spending so much time teaching and helping others to get a chance to listen to our prophet and learn for ourselves.  One of the great talks I enjoyed was by elder Oaks and being a member missionary.  As a missionary there is a huge emphasis placed on teaching lessons with members and it is a great help to have members working with you. I encourage everyone to take elder Oak´s advice and try and do some missionary work as a member. Other than conference we had another normal week as missionaries. I enjoy everyday and each day has its different challenges. Love Elder Austin We didn't get the pictures Nathan was sending the past few weeks,  now he got it figured out so we got a lot from the past few weeks in Chile.
