Week #4

Image
Everything at the mtc has been going great! Spanish is hard but it is progressing. I can say pretty much everything about the gospel but I am kind of clueless on anything that relates to real life. Last week we went to the Mexico city temple again and last Thursday I taught a real investigator for the first time. We had something called trc which is where members, less active members, or investigators can come and be taught. For this everyone else in our district taught members but one of my teachers had us teacher their brother who agreed to listen to us. His name was Jamie Balderas and he lived in another part of Mexico and we taught him over Skype. The lesson was alright but afterwards I was a little disappointed because I felt we could have done better. Even though our lesson wasn't perfect it still felt good to know that our teacher had the confidence in us for me and my companion be the ones to teach him. While I was disappointed my teacher talked with him lat

Week #3

Hey! The MTC and each week goes by faster than the last one. There are a lot of classes and a lot of Spanish. I can't wait to be fluent in Spanish and be able to say what I'm thinking. Last week I got my first hair cut at the mtc and it was a very fun experience. I went into the hair cutting place and there is a Mexican lady who doesn't speak any English. I sat down in the chair and with out saying anything she grabs my head and starts attacking my hair with a razor. She worked at about a 100 miles per hour so the hair cut was down in about 5 minutes. She was also like 4 foot 1 so she couldn't reach my head when I was sitting in the chair so I had to slouch until I was practically laying down in the chair.  It ended up turning out pretty good for a hair cut that was down at 100 miles per hour. Last Sunday I spoke in church. How they do it in the MTC is that we are all sitting in sacrament meeting and we are all supposed to have prepared talks and then afte

Week #2

Look at last weeks post-week #1-for the pictures he sent last week, I was finally able to post them.   He sent some more this week but they didn't download right and half the picture is cut off?   The only one that worked is the one below (Its with Elder Stubbs a friend from high school who is in the MTC with him getting ready to serve in Mexico ) Hello Everybody! I have loved every minute of my time at the MTC. I love being a missionary and I look forward to everyday, this has helped me wake up at 6:30 every morning. I love learning spanish and being at the CCM (Mexico MTC) where spanish is everywhere around me. Learning another language is very hard but I think I am learning the spanish pretty well. One postive sign that my spanish is coming along is that my companion told me that I was talking in my sleep in spanish last week. While learning spanish has been good it hasn't been without mistakes, I've just been glad they have been with practive investigators. During the

Week #1-First week at Mexico MTC

The first week at the MTC has been a great week. I am loving every minute of the MTC! I am so glad I got to go to the mexico mtc it is a pretty cool place. Driving from the airport to the MTC was pretty cool all I saw was barb wire and graffiti everywhere. The Mexico mtc is like a giant compound in the middle of the city with 16 feet high barb wire fences. I got here the same day as Branson and I see Stubbs and Brady around. The best and most difficult part of the MTC is learning spanish. I am so excited to learn spanish but it is pretty hard. The second day in the mtc they had us teach a first lesson to an investigator completly in spanish. My companion is elder Beard he is from Austin, Texas. He went to a year of college at byu and played the drums in the byu marching band. He is a cool guy and we are doing good together.   The food is a mix of mexican and american food.    We eat all our meals in the cafeteria and the food hasn't been too bad, the hardest part has been only ea

Nate left for the Mexico City MTC early this morning (left our home at 3:30am).  Saying goodbye was so hard, but we are so proud of his willingness to serve!  We got a quick email from him tonight. The use of the above address on all correspondence will greatly faciliate delivery to your missionary at the MTC. Please don't send packages. I made it to Mexico without dying. The flight from Salt Lake to LA was very good. I sat next to a Tongan guy during the flight. He was born and raised in Tonga and is currently attending BYU Hawaii. I then had a three hour layover in LA before flying to Mexico City. During that flight I sat next to and talk to a group of people going to mexico. One lady in the group was deaf and
