Week #34, March 29, 2017

Hi mom.  Don`t worry I didn`t forget madi my mexican sister and tell brookie I remember her birthday and I am going to find a present for her.  About those other letters( he told us he sent some letters in the mail over a month ago) ... I was planning on writing them and then it never happened and then I forgot but I will try really hard to send something home soon.  But don`t worry those letters didn`t get lost. This past week Elder Gehring got transferred and right now I am in a trio with Elder Medina from Peru and Elder Conceicao from Brazil who are the other missionaries we live with and are in our ward.  Now the three of us just have both sides of the ward and I will probably be in the trio for two weeks until the normal changes day. Its cool being in a trio because now I get to be able to get to know the people from the other half of the ward. It is also a lot harder because we are just one companionship working in the two sectors and doing things in 3s is just

Pretty much all the sectors are about that size because it is the 2nd smallest mission. But there is a good amount of people in that area but it is small. Everything else is going well with Elder Gehring. This past week our ward had its first ward counsel so that is a really good sign for the ward.  This past week we taught a guy that lives a cross the street from the chapel so we talk to him all the time but we finally got to teach him.  I`ll try and get some more pictures. It is still pretty hot during the day but it is cooling down and getting colder at night.  I have been pretty healthy and good the whole time. I have only been sick once and it was just a cold. Thank you for all that you do, you are the Greatest mom in the world. I love you Love Elder Austin

Hey greatest mom in the world.  Indian wells sounds like a lot of fun. Its too bad that it always seems to turn out like that and you miss the best days with the best players. Daylight saving sounded fun too, I have had it here and I have heard it is pretty random and there is no system and they just throw it on out of nowhere. Haha the list is going alright (responding to me asking how things were going with the 900 people they were suppose track down) .  It can be very frustrating sometimes though.  First trying to find the houses is tough because a lot of the house numbers have been changed many times so some of the houses have the old number, some have the new number, some have both, and some don´t have anything. And after that there are some houses with the same numbers on the same street or the numbers are out of order.  And then when we contact the house they are usually gone working or someone lies to us about where they are. So you can say it has its challen

Hey mom your story sounds pretty amazing.  That's amazing that you were able to have that kind of experience listening to the spirit.  For us the water was only off for two days but for a couple days after we weren`t suppose to drink the water but at least we had something. You realize how important water is, it is a lot easier to go with out power than water.  Chile has been pretty crazy first over a month of fires and then two much rain up north. I'm just waiting for the earthquake.    Everything is going pretty well in Chile. This past week we got a ward mission leader called, he is an haitiano that left Haiti and lived in the Dominican republic for a few years where he joined the church and also learned  some Spanish and now he is here in Chile as our ward mission leader.    Right now we are working on a project in the mission to clean up a lot of the records. We received a list of the names of all the people who have ever been baptized in our ward. W

Week #30 March 1, 2017

Hey mom Its good that you guys get to keep enjoy the cold since it is still very hot down here. Watching some good tennis in California sounds amazing. And Ryan should study geography because that is way cooler than spelling.  Say hi to brookie for me. She sounds like she is still a pretty spoiled funny girl :)  Yeah junior is a pretty cool guy. The other missionaries are working to teach him Spanish so he can be a part of the ward and be active when the missionaries leave. I see junior a lot though because he always go to the church to use the wifi to talk to his family in Haiti.  My Spanish is pretty good right now.  I can say what I want to say and understand pretty much everything so it pretty much depends on your definition of fluent.  I still have a lot of work to do to speak like a native speaker but I'm alright.  I am with a gringo right now so we speak a lot of English together which doesn´t really help.  Yeah Elder Packer came, I was there  Ok
