Week #56 August 30, 2018

Hi! Yeah Rodolfo is chileno and really knows the church and the ward but just hasn´t felt confident enough about it to get baptized. But he is super cool and is progressing so something could happen. We did fast with him this sunday. With the haitians things are pretty good. Right now they just do not understand the need to be baptized with the right authority because they have all already been baptized.  This week something really cool did happen. on Saturday we had just walked out of the chapel and a guy drove by and stopped his car and called us over, he told us he had moved to santiago just a little while ago and had know the church and little bit in his old city and wants to be baptized. We set up an appointment with him and told him about church that  sunday .  He never came to church and we thought a little bit that it might be to good to be true, but we went to our appointment with him  monday  and had a dope lesson with him. His name is marcos and he is 25.  It

Today for pday I went to president gwilliams house with everyone from my group and we got to hang out at his super nice house for the afternoon.  This week was good, we had several good lesson with our Haitian investigators that we have found. Gilot and Claudet are the two of that group of Haitians I told you about last week that have progressed the most, and both of them attended church last week.  We also have this other investigator named Rodolfo he is 20 and has been meeting with the missionaries for a while but has never been baptized, but this last week he got a new job where he only has to work M onday to R riday and will be able to attend church more regularly.  He also attended this past S unday . These Haitians that we have speak pretty good Spanish, a lot of them lived in the Dominican Republic for some time so they speak good.  But there are some that don´t speak as well and it is harder to teach them.  It is kind of like the no child left behind thing,

I can´t believe that school started again I would be really sad about that if I was going to school. But I´m not. Elder Gowers has been out 11 months he has one change less than I have. We live with a gringo from Colorodo (Elder Tanner) and a Chileno from Chile (Elder Palacios) but the Chileno finished his mission yesterday and a brand new gringo from utah (Elder Last) got here so we now have a all gringo house!   One of the coolest things that happened this past week is when we found a bunch of Haitianos this past Sunday . The week before I got here a Haitian lady named Yolette got baptized,  and my first week in the sector we started teaching her son-in-law and his friend.   This past Sunday we had received a reference from a guy named Pierre and we were looking for his house (We knew he was hatian because his name is pierre) but we couldn´t find the house because the numbers didn´t exist on the street we were looking for. We tried calling the number that we had re

Hey mom! So it looks like I have to clear the confusion of when I said "crossing a freeway". I just said it was in between us and the sector so there are actually 4 ways to enter without running across the road, 3 bridges and 1 road, so I can happily tell you I still haven't ran across the road dodging cars. (last week when he wrote about crossing a freeway to get to his sector, i thought he had to run across the freeway, dodging cars!) We do have to walk a lot because the sector is pretty big and we have to walk to just get into the sector. At night we usually have to go to the edge of the sector to cross back on the road because the bridges can sometimes be dangerous at night. And when I said bigger I meant both, it is bigger in the sense that there is more money and in the sense that there are big roads in the sector. I do really like this sector though. The ward is good and also had a lot of potential. This past  sunday  there was 62 people at church which w

Hey mom! So right now i´m in my second day in a new sector.  This past week I got changed to be in a sector called parque combarbalá (in the comuna La Granja) with elder gowers who is from south jordan utah. I  left El Bosque a day before I complete one year in the mission.  I´m still getting to know the sector but it is pretty different than el bosque.  In el bosque it was pretty much just a bunch of tiny houses and here there is a lot of big roads and bigger stuff.  We live in a different sector with other missionaries and to get to our sector we have to cross a freeway to get there. The ward seems pretty good though. a lot different than the two wards in el bosque.  I´m am pretty excited to be and work here though.  I haven´t bought any new ties I have just traded. The pink won is from Elder Gehring. My clothes are  holding up pretty well but i´ve got some holes in my socks and some little tears.  The shoes are doing good but I haven´t really used the boots to much. Thank
