Week #67 November 15, 2017

Hi hows it going. Losing Marco means that we haven´t talked or seen him in like 3 weeks he doesn't´t answer his phone or his house. Junior is doing good still his family will be getting here in a little more than a week. No he doesn't´t really have a good job but no haitian really has a good job. But at least he saved up enough money to pay for the plane tickets. Elder Rodruiguez has like 19 months in the mission and we live in a house. We had to rearrange everything so we could fit in bed in. We don´t know how long the trio will last. This week we got a kind of mini missionary. His name is Elian and he is from the ward. He can´t sleep in the house with us but in the morning he comes and studies with us and eats lunch with us and then goes out with one of us during the day so we can split up and have two companionships. I went out with him yesterday. he is 20 and last year he started his mission papers and then kind of went inactive, but now he is a little more active and he wasn't´t doing anything so the bishop volunteered him and gave him to us a the 4th companion. Its been really good for him to because he gets to study the Scriptures with us and how to teach.

We had the mission conferences together just so Elder Christenson could speak to all the missionaries in the short time he had. Everyone though he was going to combine the missions.

Our house is pretty good. The kitchen is really small so only like one person can cook at a time. I will send some pictures next week so you can see. Our house is in a pretty good area but it is nothing like the states.

I´m going to shave my head. I´ll send you pictures next week ;)

Yesterday we broke our three week streak of not teaching a chilean. On Saturday we had a fun family night with a bunch of Haitians and a member family.

Well my letter isn´t that long yet but one thing I would like to do and something I probably do a little more is share my testimony in my emails. One thing I have really learned on my mission is the why behind the commandments. One that I have been thinking about a little bit is keeping the sabbath day holy. I have met a lot of inactive people here and one of the reasons of inactivity is when people fail to keep the sabbath day holy. Many people begin to work Sundays thinking that later when they have more time in the job the will be able to get Sundays off or that the can still fit church in on sunday. but usually they never stop working Sundays or by the time the do they have already lost there testimony. I have also learned all the many productive things that could be done on sunday. Family History work, Home teaching, do church callings, study the scriptures.
Thank you for everything ,I love you
Love Elder Austin
