Hi mom this past week was really good week. Last Wednesday the ward did an activity and we watched one of the those super old movie/slide show things where you watch the slide with the audio and then it beeps and you change the slide. We watched that and it was actually really cool.  On Saturday we taught Yolette the Haitian that is a member.  We haven´t really been able to teach her before during the week she travels to some rich persons house and takes care of the house and then comes but Saturday and has to leave again Sunday  afternoon.  But this Saturday night we were able to teach her and we watched the full length Joseph smith restoration video.  Junior and emmanuel also came with her along with two other Haitians and we all watched the video and I loved it.  I hadn't´t realized of good of a movie it was but it was really powerful in the way it conveyed the restoration .  On Sunday  we had 7 investi...

Hi mom,  I actually talked to the bishop from el bosque a couple weeks ago and he told me that gabriel is doing very well, it looks like he is now the young mens leader in the ward (not a lot of youth but its still good). I also got his email too and I am going to email him soon.  Other than that I haven´t heard anything about anyone else.  Today we went to the temple for pday as a district. It was very cool and we went and ate lunch at carls jr after.  Marco is doing well as well. We have a baptism date for him the  11 of november . This past week we did a thing where some people that were in the ccm came to our sector and where with us for a couple hours. I was with some one from ecuador named elder Padilla who has just been a member for a year and a half.  I have being putting emphasis in reading the book of mormon. I have also realized how is it would be for us to forget if we don´t make time to reed. I had one day the past week when we were...

Week #62 October 11, 2017

hi mom sounds like you guys had a fun and interesting week last week with state tennis and homecoming.  This past week we had 4 investigators. Junior and emmanuel went as well as this Haitian couple that attended before. We have only had one lesson with them but they have now attended church twice and gone to a ward activity. It is kind of complicated teaching them because they speak almost no spanish and don´t really speak french either.  We only speak english and spanish and they only speak creole.  They also can´t read very well and they book of mormon doesn't´t have an audio in creole.  But we are working out a solution for that, already have an audio of the entire restoration pamphlet in creole recorded by emmanuel.  And we will probably try and get him to keep recording so he can go over the material and we can teach this couple. There names are Josue and Artus.  Another really cool thing that happened this week was Junior asked if it w...

Week # 61 October 4, 2017

I´ll start off talking about general conference because I image that would be one of your questions. I really liked the talk by Russel M Nelson about the book of mormon. I also found that the book of mormon was on of the biggest themes of this year, even though it is probably a theme every year because its kind of important.  Russell M Nelson´s was probably my favorite about the book of mormon but there were several and everyone one seemed to at least mention it. They also emphasized reading every single day. It called my attention that elder eyring said he had read the book of mormon every day for the past 50 years.  I did watch the whole conference in spanish. Spanish just feels so natural now I can´t really think back to what it was like before when I couldn´t understand it.  Marco is doing very well, he couldn´t come to general conference for some reason but there was a ward activity friday night and he went to that and brought his brother. He has a baptism ...

Week #60 September 27, 2017

Hey mom thank you for the package I got it this past week and it was perfect especially the creole book because I had just been talking with my comp about learning some creole and now we have something to help us out.   There are several reasons that I have why the Haitians are so receptive. One is that they are a very religious people and have left their country and their churches with that and now when they arrive here they need a new church to go to. another reason is that they don´t speak spanish fluently so they are a little less confident and don´t reject us right away like that the Chileans that speak spanish. When ever you say hi to a Haitian you can tell that they pause for a second like they aren´t sure if you are going to talk to them. There is a very large number of Haitians here and for most of them the mormon church is something new compared to the Chileans who pretty much every person here has talked to the missionaries ...

Week #59 September 20, 2017

hey mom this past week on the 18th was the chilean independence day, so that pretty much means we have just been teaching Haitians this past week because the Chileans have been occupied drinking.  On Sunday  junior and Emmanuel both attended church and while we were in church a Haitian couple randomly showed up to church and we had no idea who they were. But the had just seen the church and decided to go, we had our first lesson with them and they don´t speak spanish very well so we will have to work out a way to teach them.  This past week we also found another Haitian investigator named Frantz. It was just like 9:30  at night and we saw a little game of soccer between some Haitians and some Chileans and we had to see that so we sad down over there by another Haitian friend that was watching and starting talking to him. And a little while later the Haitians that were playing got distracted and came over t...

Hey mom whats up. I am starting to feel older too. Especially because a huge new group of missionaries just got to the mission which was pretty much my group last year.  The only difference is is that I am a year older that these youngins.  That conference sounds pretty cool. One of the chapters in preach my gospel is all about the attributes of christ.  This past week we had a really good noche de hogar with Rodolfo with a family in the ward. And this past Saturday the ward had its party for the chilean independence day even though it doesn't´t actually happen until the 18th. Rodolfo even started helping some of the young adults in the ward prepare for the activity but en the end he wasn't able to go for some family problems. The ward activity lasted all day Saturday but we only stopped by to eat lunch there.  This Monday was 11th day September another day when we can´t leave the house.  Sunday  before it got dark we had to enter to the hou...
