Week #38 April 26, 2017

Clip from the news on April 25:  A major earthquake of magnitude 7.1 struck off the west coast of Chile on Monday, rocking the capital Santiago and briefly causing alarm along the Pacific Coast but not producing any serious damage. Hey mom!! I don`t know if I`ll have more experiences with earthquakes than you because I don`t even feel the earthquakes. There were actually two this week the first one was a couple days earlier and I was sleeping through that one and this last one I was in the street and I had no idea and didn`t feel anything.  I think a dog might have been attacking me at that time. But after everyone starting asking if we had felt the earthquake and I had no idea.  What I have heard is that this one was stronger than the last one and lasted longer so I have no idea how I missed it.   Yeah it rained a little bit and we gathered the water but they never cut the water.  No I haven`t got the package yet.  When is josh getting ...

Nathan's P-day was moved from Wednesday to Thursday this week because of the Chilean Census yesterday. It was the census yesterday and we had to stay in the house until we were counted and nothing would be open and we had just had that pday a few weeks ago when we had to stay inside so they changed it to today. It was pretty crazy that I got the stuff returned back in my wallet last week but the story continued this week.   During the week we knocked on someones door and a guy came out and I started to talk and he looked at my tame tag and stopped me and asked me if I had lost my documents, he then told me that he was the guy that had returned the contents of my wallet and we just happened to find him.  He told me that someone had thrown the contents of the wallet in his patio and on one of the papers he found the address and returned the stuff.  We talked to him for a little while and he wasn`t very interested but he was a really nice guy that returne...

Week #36, April 12, 2017

Hi! Thanks for sending me a package you are the best. It was pretty fun eating Ice cream with junior.  When we got the ice cream I think he recognized it but he just hadn't recognized the word in Spanish or french.  So I think he had tried it but I was not something he has eaten a lot, we brought another haitiano that we had found with us and he didn´t like ice cream.  The good news is is that junior moved from the other side of the ward into our side of the sector so know we get to teach him now and that's great because junior is amazing.  He has been looking for work because he needs a work contract to be able to stay in Chile because his visa ends in like a month and right now he is painting the church building and he is going to get paid from this but he won´t get a contract but now with that money he will at least be able to pay the extension and stay and keep looking for work. This past week I went on a little vacation for a couple days....

Week #35, April5, 2017

Hola mom. Hows it going? I did watch conference in Spanish and was good the only big difference is listing to the translator instead of the speaker. You don`t realize but you get used to their voices.  And when the talk starts you hear it in English first so you get excited and then it switch's to Spanish.  But it was very good. And of course you know me, I really did like M Russel Ballard`s talk about goals and plans. It gave great advice on how to set goals in general and then told us what kind of goals are our priority. I also liked the talk from Joaquin Costa because this was a talked directed to investigators.  Elder gehring left because a missionary finished the mission and went home and he went to go be companions with the other guy and i stayed here in the trio. I do love teaching junior the haitiano that got baptized, he just has so much faith. Tomorrow is his birthday and we are going to buy him ice cream because he has never tried ice cream before.  ...

Week #34, March 29, 2017

Hi mom.  Don`t worry I didn`t forget madi my mexican sister and tell brookie I remember her birthday and I am going to find a present for her.  About those other letters( he told us he sent some letters in the mail over a month ago) ... I was planning on writing them and then it never happened and then I forgot but I will try really hard to send something home soon.  But don`t worry those letters didn`t get lost. This past week Elder Gehring got transferred and right now I am in a trio with Elder Medina from Peru and Elder Conceicao from Brazil who are the other missionaries we live with and are in our ward.  Now the three of us just have both sides of the ward and I will probably be in the trio for two weeks until the normal changes day. Its cool being in a trio because now I get to be able to get to know the people from the other half of the ward. It is also a lot harder because we are just one companionship working in the two sectors and doing thi...

Pretty much all the sectors are about that size because it is the 2nd smallest mission. But there is a good amount of people in that area but it is small. Everything else is going well with Elder Gehring. This past week our ward had its first ward counsel so that is a really good sign for the ward.  This past week we taught a guy that lives a cross the street from the chapel so we talk to him all the time but we finally got to teach him.  I`ll try and get some more pictures. It is still pretty hot during the day but it is cooling down and getting colder at night.  I have been pretty healthy and good the whole time. I have only been sick once and it was just a cold. Thank you for all that you do, you are the Greatest mom in the world. I love you Love Elder Austin

Week #32, March 15, 2017

Hey greatest mom in the world.  Indian wells sounds like a lot of fun. Its too bad that it always seems to turn out like that and you miss the best days with the best players. Daylight saving sounded fun too, I have had it here and I have heard it is pretty random and there is no system and they just throw it on out of nowhere. Haha the list is going alright (responding to me asking how things were going with the 900 people they were suppose track down) .  It can be very frustrating sometimes though.  First trying to find the houses is tough because a lot of the house numbers have been changed many times so some of the houses have the old number, some have the new number, some have both, and some don´t have anything. And after that there are some houses with the same numbers on the same street or the numbers are out of order.  And then when we contact the house they are usually gone working or someone lies to us about where they are. So you can say...
