Week #6, first week in Chile

I am now safely in Chile.  I managed to wait and do all my packing until right before the bus left to the airport but I made it onto the bus and to the airport in time.  We had about a 8 hour red eye flight that I was lucky and got about 6 hours of sleep, some people got nothing.  We got into Chile at 6:30 am ready for a full day of work.  We got picked up and went to the mission office where we had a bunch of orientation meetings.  After that we found out our trainers.  My trainer is Elder Kau from Provo Utah who graduated from Timpview a year before I did.  One important thing I did learn from our meetings is that Chileans are awesomely lazy and because of that our mission hours are from 7:30 to 11:30 instead of the usual 6:30 to 10:30.  It is a good thing that I never got up for school before 7:30 or I would have just been building bad habits for my mission.  After lunch we went home and then spent the rest of the day working.  Even in only half a day I already have had a ton of emotions and experiences.  I had a drunk guy call me a Russian and I also got to give a spiritual thought in a members home.  It can also be hard because 90% of the doors we went to wouldn't even open their doors.  It was great first day but also very hard so I am grateful to get a p day right after that hard first day.  I love the people here and my mission.  I know a little Spanish but now I am going to start learning Chilean.
Love Elder Austin
